American Amanda Anisimova pulled off one of the biggest upsets of Wimbledon 2025, beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka to reach her first Grand Slam final.

13th seed Anisimova beat Sabalenka 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a thrilling two-hour and 35-minute match on the blazing Centre Court. An elated Anisimova waved and blew kisses to the crowd after her victory.

“It still doesn’t feel real. I was almost dying on the court. I don’t know how I managed to pull it off. Reaching the Wimbledon final is the most special moment of my life,” said Anisimova, 23.

Anisimova saved 11 of 14 break points in the match and finally secured the victory on her fourth match point. Her patience and mental toughness deserve praise.

On the other hand, it is another disappointing chapter for Sabalenka. She has already lost two finals this year, losing to Madison Keys at the Australian Open and Coco Gauff at the French Open. This time, she could not reach the final at Wimbledon, although she was one of the favorites of the tournament.

In the final, Anisimova's opponent will be the winner of Thursday's other semi-final — five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Siauték or Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic.
